Black and Blue

I finally finished this black and white roll I started last month. I processed the film in our schools dark room today which I haven't done in a while. It was really nice to remember I can still develop and scan, as time consuming as it is. I was in the photo facilities pretty much all afternoon but I brushed up on some technical skills so it wasn't so bad.

I'm so into this song right now.

Today we took the 126 all the way to Ventura and went to the beach and played with sea urchins, went to this weird thrift store that was really messy and the guy was watching hoarders and also gave me a smiley face pin for free, and we ate really good food.

Today we went to this place called Vasquez Rocks which is up the 14 freeway towards mojave.  We ate sandwiches with veggies and faux bologna (fuckin weird ass word) and got super lost and ended up on some creepy ranch and had to jump two fences which was really hard for me because I wore platform boots.

Saugus Forever

Kaya and I didnt go home for the holiday so we decided to celebrate with friends. We did it yesterday since a lot of our friends had to be with their family today. I woke up still drunk and hungry to the biggest mess I've ever seen in my life. Our house was covered in candle wax, mashed potatoes, cigarette butts, and red wine. We ate some leftovers and then went to CVS to get some film developed. The closest CVS is in Saugus so we spent an hour walking around while we waited for the pictures. There's really nothing there so we ended up sitting under a tree a few blocks away and then getting some wine at Vons. We spent the rest of the day cleaning and now we're drinkin this really fancy wine: Grgich Hills Estate. I don't really know anything about wine but its pretty good. We're gonna try to dedicate this weekend to working on our book and getting stuff done before the next holiday.

"Saugus Forever"

We had thanksgiving dinner at our house on top of the hill, a night early.  Everyone brought food and Adi and I made pear cider cocktails and hot gingerbread punch.  We danced all night and played games like cheers governor and spin the bottle.

Here's a playlist we made for the holiday:

Forever or Never

The past few months have been really busy with preparing my mid- residency show (which is this solo show you have your 3rd year at CalArts). Kaya just had hers too and we're both really relieved to have it over with. Now we're working on putting a book together that should be done by christmas. Here's some footage from my show:

And the opening was great. It was on Day of the Dead so we went to the Mexican supermarket and got candies and a piñata and cakes and pig rinds n stuff.  I made pink panty droppers (will explain and give recipe at the end) and everyone got super drunk. Yung Jake and DJ Student Body performed and we danced and drank until 4am. I split open the pinata with my feet after a few pathetic attempts to break it with a ladel (that we were using for the pink panty droppers).

So pink panty droppers are these drinks that I've made since high school in Texas. One batch of it for an entire party and everyone is sure to get f*kd^.
The mix is:
  • 1 handle of vodka (doesn't matter what kind- I normally go with Smirnoff or something pretty bottom notch)
  • 18 pack of beer (again not important what kind. When me n my girl Kelsey do it we use Natty Ice)
  • 1 or 2 things of Pink Country Time Lemonade mix (depends how sweet you want it)
  • 1 cooler w ice
  • 1 ladle for serving

After the first drink or so this is what happens...

On another note Kaya and I will also be putting together a group show in the spring. We're both young women bored of this generation and our age. We kind of feel the same way about these sorta things so we'll keep you updated on how that goes.

Also here's a poem that might be in the book we're putting together:

At your roots
I knew you were always
A fist

I saw your thumb
With branches like a menorah

You would stuff the throats of mountains
Until they shook
And spit

A tar garden
Where pearls
Looked like us
